muse:doorways, and not going through them.

based off of this picture.

muse:
gail hears the doorknob jostle with a metallic clunk. she runs to meet the slab of oaken wood as it slides into the space of her small room, catching the knob with her hand. she forces the door closed.

"gail?" marty calls, confused. he tries turning the doorknob and pushing the door open. gail remains firmly rooted to the spot. "gail? what are you doing?"

gail responds with some excuse about not letting the groom see the bride before the wedding "because that's bad luck or something" and tries to leave it at that. she can just hear marty shaking his head. "i just wanted to tell you something,"  he says through the wood. gail just turns around and slides to the floor, her back still holding the door firmly closed. why is she doing this, really? she runs through the list in her head.

i love marty, she thinks. i love him with my entire being. then why is she doing this? not letting him in? not quite sure. she still doesn't have a reason for this when marty asks her himself. "why won't you let me in, gail? it's nearly time for you to walk!" gail stares at her feet emptily, trying to come up with a suitable reason. she finds none.
