a character interview.

inspired by pink's character dialogue, because i feel that i need to develop the two main characters' voices. so, without further ado, here it goes. this all takes place after the time in the story.

so what do you do for a living now?

harvey: i'm a lawyer for a top-notch firm. i think i'm a pretty good lawyer... but of course there are tons of other lawyers better than me. but i'm pretty capable. i get where i need to without trampling on other people. unlike other lawyers. (glances at ernest)
ernest: i don't trample on other people, harvey. (glares back) i just let the heat of the moment control my emotions sometimes. i'm a lawyer too at another top-notch firm. i try to take a mix of cases between the high up and the low-end... although i favor the high up cases because those tend to leave me less annoyed at humanity.

what were you like in high school?
ernest: i'd rather not describe myself. harvey can do that... and i'll describe harvey.
harvey: fair enough. ernest was a bit of a jerk in high school.
ernest: hey!
harvey: you asked me to describe you! but there's more, so settle down, geez.
ernest: fine.
harvey: even though he was a jerk, ernest would never hurt anyone. he was a pretty interesting kid, though. he had an interesting way of showing his friendship. it was never outright, it was just either he spared his friends from his practical jokes or rained them down mercilessly. and for me it was always the second one.
ernest: at least you knew you were my best friend, right?
harvey: (rolls his eyes)
ernest: in high school, harvey was super laid back. he never tried to get to involved in other people's lives... of course he would worry about his girlfriend from time to time, but he would never get too bogged down by the things of high school, drama included. except for that one time.
