really, it is. i have some crazy trains of thought. the most recent of which brought me to the thought of what would happen if someone took the expression "social strata" literally. yup, i took a Journey To Literal Land And Back.
now, strata can either be food or layers of rock. i was thinking of strata in the food sense. which would be just absolutely ridiculous. imagine it!
the kings (who've just concocted the entire cake by themselves in a grand experiment) have put themselves on the top of the giant pastry, decked out in frosting. they think they're the sweetest part of the entire confectionery, but they always get so disappointed when they're scraped off and left discarded on the edge of a paper plate. the wealthy are the next layer in. they're the thinnest layer in the entire cake, and nobody really notices them while eating. ironically enough, the middle layer is the richest (in taste of course.)--the fluffiest layer with the most delectable of fruit fillings. and the last layer of the cake... the poor and impoverished. sometimes, people won't even bother eating the last layer--they leave it on the plate beside the frosting. and that's when the conflict really starts.
